NEWS FROM THE MISSION FIELD

BALIGUIAN  MISSION

8/25/2015

Picture
Report from one of our Pastors in the church at Baliguian, Pastor Elmer Duhaylungsod;

"To God be the glory, God is doing many miracles in my life that push me up always to do the will of God.  In the ministry at Baliguian we are so happy and excited and full of joy even though there sometimes are trials to pass through, still God is moving.

Sometimes I encounter loneliness and I feel insecurity compared to other pastors.  Some cult leaders underestimate the quality of my training in Bible school.  They laugh at me when they see me during the time I evangelize the Word of God to the unbeliever.   But I continue to praise God in spite of all the things that they have done to me.

As of now we have regular Sunday services and the people who attend are increasing every week - to God be the glory!

What we are doing..
.

-----------3 cell group meetings each week as of now
-----------4 days every week our evangelism
-----------On Saturdays we follow up with all our people
-----------On Sundays we have our worship service

Testimony

During our  evangelism   we meet an old woman full of heavy problems , we share her about the Word of God ,and the Holy Spirit ministering unto her and she started crying and crying - after that she gave us love gift.(money). During that time we had no food to eat, but thanks to God, He met our need through that woman.

 Prayer Request

----we need to rent a house to use for Sunday services and  also pastor Elmer lives and us need a place to live - so pray with us for the money we need to get a place
----please pray for the extension of God's work in Baliguian - the people here are so eager and willing to receive the Word of God..

thank you so much for all support and prayer to us . thank you for the source ministry and all who support."

Thanks For Your Support
We at The Source would love to thank you for all of your support and generosity. It is a great joy to share with praying saints what God is doing in our ministry. The Tribal Missions Training Center has started it's third class of missionary students who will be training to plant churches on Mindanao. Our Missions and Ministry School in Brazil is scheduled to start at the beginning of August and has had great support from the local church here in the state of Goias.

What is New in The Philippines?
We couldn't be more excited about the work in the Philippines. As many of you know, there have been some hinderances at our Tribal Missions Training Center earlier this year. Many of our new students were infected with the measles and had very limited access to good health care. We are very happy to report that they are healthy and the classes were able to start on schedule. This year at the school our total number of students will be 19. Join us in prayer for them as we see Christ give them visions of church planting and giving their lives for the least of these!

The Badjao
The work in the Badjao village is going great. Each one of your donations is a huge blessing among these unreached people. We are able to feed the children, continue the church plant, and preach the gospel to the lost. Pray for the gospel to increase in fruitfulness among the Badjao People!

What is New in Brazil?
We have seen God bless our work tremendously since we have arrived here in Brazil. We were able to purchase a place for our new Ministry and Missions School, gain support from many local churches, and have our first Open House for potential students and co-workers. The school will be starting in just two weeks!

 Open House
Our Open House at the school was a very fruitful and joyous time! Many potential students, sponsors, and co-laborers got to come and see the new facility and get a picture of what student life will be like in the school. Currently we have 4 students committed to start the training this semester and even more committed to start next semester. Continue to pray with us for a hunger in our students to do the work of the Lord among His harvest.

Monthly Reflection

"And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'"
-Matthew 25:40

Here in Matthew 25 Jesus gives us a sobering and encouraging parable. He paints a picture of what it will be like on Judgement Day. Everybody will stand before the glorious throne of God to give an account for the deeds done in the body. Jesus says,

"Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left."
(Verse 32-33)

Jesus begins to bless the sheep and curse the goats. The sheep are blessed because they fed Jesus when he was hungry, gave him drink when he was thirsty, welcomed him when he was a stranger, clothed him when he was naked, and visited him when he was sick and in prison. The natural response of these people was, "Lord, when did we do these things?" Jesus answers with some very important words. "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me."

The implications of these words are profound. If we minister to the needs of the 'least of these' then it is as if we ministered directly to Jesus himself. In this specific parable, one of the main evidences that these people loved and served the Lord was that they ministered to the people deemed lowest in society.

After this Jesus turns to the goats. He explains that they didn't do any of these things and begins to pronounce judgment on them. Their lack of genuine love for the Lord was clear in that they didn't care for the 'least of these.' They were sentenced to eternal punishment and the righteous were invited into eternal life. Let us remember this parable from Jesus and pray that we can share his heart for the least of people on this earth. Be encouraged to make this a priority in your life. God, help us to love and serve the least of these for your glory! Amen.

Thanks again for your continued support.
                                                                                                     In Christ,
                                                                                                     The Source Ministries

The Philippines Update

Our third group of students has started classes at the Tribal Missions Training Center. Some of our new students come from family backgrounds which include witchcraft and other occult practices. Praise the Lord that He has rescued them and is writing a new story in their life. He is the author and finisher of their faith! Please be in prayer with us for their success and good spiritual health.

Toys, clothes, and other items have been delivered to the children in The Philippines. Thanks so much for all of you who made this possible. Your kind and generous gifts make so much happen for the helpless ones. God bless you for being willing to reach half way around the world to make a difference with your contributions.

The new church plants in Osmena, The Philippines are going well. As of now, they don't all have a structure to house their meetings, but they still grow in grace and in numbers! Our lead missionary Pastor Laid, visits the new churches frequently. He takes time to encourage the pastors and congregation in the Lord. All of our pastors are staying strong and reaching the people of Mindanao.

Brazil Update

We are only about a week away from signing the contract on our facility for our Ministry and Missions School in Goianapolis, Brazil. It is an exciting time for us here as we begin to prepare the place for the arrival of our students at the end of July. There is a lot of work to be done, adding bathrooms and showers, acquiring beds and supplies, etc. Please keep the future students in your prayers as they prepare to enter the mission field.

Our Needs

 Prayer

Once again we covet your prayers because prayer is our deepest need. Without this we can accomplish nothing. Join us in praying for the lost people in The Philippines and Brazil. Join us in praying for our missionaries. Join us in praying for our future students. Join us in praying for the Badjao people. Join us in praying for God's glory.

Support for Students in Brazil

Many of our incoming students are very poor, and cannot afford to pay for the school. We have determined in our hearts, though, to turn no qualified student away because of money.  These are future Pastors, missionaries and church planting pioneers and we think they are worth any investment of our own time and money. We will be funding everything we can, however, our funds are limited. These students, these young men and women of God, need your help.  It will take about US$240/ month to take care of one student's food, housing & etc.  May you find it in your hearts to help support a student fully or in part.

Arrived In Brazil

We Have Arrived in Brazil.......Our missionary families have arrived in Brazil and have begun to lay the ground work for our new Missionary Training Center in Goiania, Goias. Our goal is to have the school up and running in the coming months. There have been many trials but God has been faithful to us. There are many people who are interested in becoming students and the support of the local pastors has been remarkable. We covet your prayers for the work ahead and have compiled a small list of some of our needs.

1. Pray for God to be glorified. We cannot stress how important this is. All creation exists for this very purpose. If we are not glorifying Him in all that we do, then we are wasting our time.

2. Pray for the perfect place to have the training center. As of now we don't have a location to house the students and conduct the training. We have many local pastors helping us and for that we are grateful, however, we need the provision of God.

3. Pray for funds. Specifically we will need to purchase land, buildings, beds, desks, chairs, etc.

4. Pray for our missionaries. Moving to a new country can be difficult and they have experienced some personal trials already. Ask God to protect them and keep them focused on the task at hand.

Building A New Church

We are praising God that due to the generosity of our friends and partners, we were able to send the necessary funds to build the new church building in Baliguian!   Construction will begin this month.   Baliguian is a city located on the far west side of Mindanao.  We currently have one church plant there, and due to the Muslim extremest, this is the hardest and most dangerous place where our missionaries work.   For them to have a church building where they can meet and fellowship is an incalculable blessing.

The Tribal Missions Training Center

The third group of students will begin their training next month.   We ask that you would pray for the right students to be there and that their hearts will be ready for the work ahead.

Church Planting

Many of our recent graduates have now moved into the places where they will be planting new churches. We are especially focusing our efforts on a city called Osmena. Please join us in praying for a powerful move of God in this city and on the entire island of Mindanao.

Thank You

Hello everybody! Here at The Source everything we do requires resources. Whether that resource is time, talent, or treasure; it's impossible to accomplish His mission without them. Now we are confident that God Himself is the one who provides all of those resources.

"God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply." -Hudson Taylor

He is the one that enables us to give of our resources to accomplish His will in the world. Many of you have given of your time for us in prayer and service, many in your talents by using them to support, encourage, and direct us, and many in your treasure by donating to the ministry so that we can supply our missionaries on the field with resources to spread the gospel and plant churches. We cannot express with human words the gratitude in our hearts toward God and you for your continual support.

To make things easier for you to give of your treasure, we have added a new feature to our website. If you go to our SUPPORT tab and click on GIVE NOW, it will give you two options for online giving.
Picture
The first is a one-time donation called Give Once. This allows you to give safely through the website a donation of your choice without any recurring billing. The second option is called Give Monthly. This option allows you to sign up for a recurring once-a-month donation for a duration of 12 months. If at anytime you need to cancel the rest of your transactions for the rest of the 12 months you can simply contact us and we can stop the payments immediately.

ORPHANAGE

4/21/2015

Picture
Greetings!  I will be moving in 2 days to Brazil.  We are so excited about the work we are about to begin there.  The rest of the team will join me there by the end of April and we will be fully committed to our tasks there.

In the mean time, our work in The Philippines continues.  We are so very thankful to all our supporters and partners in this ministry!  You guys are so awesome to help with the work which the Lord has put into our hands to do.  Your Spiritual and financial support are greatly appreciated.  We must now ask for your help again.

We will be opening an orphanage in The Philippines and are also building a couple of churches there, and re-enforcing the structure of the school in the Badjao village.

The school house needs to be strengthened to make it safer, and needs the addition of a small kitchen and a bathroom. (Approximtely $1,500)

One of the 2 churches is nearly finished, and all we need there is the money to finish the purchase of the land. (About $1,000)

The other church is not yet started - but the land where it is to be built is a great bargain.  (Total about $ 3,750 to buy land and build church)

And for the orphanage we will need to purchase land and build the home.  (Approximately $5,000)

Our total needs for all these projects is only about $ 11,250

It seems like such a small amount in American terms, but for the folks and the orphans there in The Philippines it is an enormous sum.  For them, these projects would be a God-sized dream come true.  Won't you help make these miracle happen in their lives?  If not you, who?  If not now, when?

May the great Lord Jesus Christ bless you in all you do!

Planting Churches & Making Disciples

1/30/2015

We will soon be planting a new church in a Badjao village in The Philippines.    There is a great need for the Gospel among this unreached tribal group.

The Badjao people build their homes from bamboo, discarded wood and grass.    The situation of the Badjao is precarious.  They are faced with stunning poverty, social rejection and spiritual darkness.   Often, as many as five families share one thatched hut.

The Badjao are unable to send their children to school.  Unlike in America, public school in The Philippines and many other nations is not free.  In order to send their children to school, they would have to pay tuition, which they cannot afford, and buy required school uniforms, which they cannot afford.

As part of our church planting efforts there, we will also establish a free Christian elementary school so the Badjao kids can learn to read and write and develop the skills to make their way in life.  We will also be developing and implementing a feeding program to supplement their poor nutrition.

Please pray for our team as they prepare to step out and do this new work.  And please prayerfully consider become a regular monthly supporter to help in this outreach.  Even a small amount on a monthly basis becomes a great help, as it established an ongoing resource for the work.

We know that the Badjao people are precious to the Lord.   Won't you join with us in the work among them, and become a hand that reaches all the way to the other side of the world in the name of Jesus Christ.

May All Depression Cease

12/11/2014

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God,                and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
-Isaiah 53:4-5

As Christmas draws near the word that comes to most people's mind is Joy. Whether it's an ad for a new product that will bring bliss or a hope that this year will finally be the year that true joy comes flooding into your life and relationships, it seems to be the word that is echoed through this season. As a Christian I would say, "yes and amen!" This is the time we celebrate that King Jesus wrapped himself in human flesh and came to save his people. On top of that he is coming a second time to rescue his bride and bring us into our Master's Joy.

The problem though is that every year majority of the people that thought the holiday season was going to bring joy end up depressed and let down. Depression is a word that many people feel uncomfortable talking about but is something that is very prevalent in our world. We understand that without Christ there will never be true, enduring joy but only depression and sadness. As the puritans said, "No man can have peace without his pardon." So billions of people today have never heard, understood, or believed upon the good news that we remember this holiday season. They have never experienced the promise that, "Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows," and "he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed." What joy they miss out on because they can't see and savor our Sorrow Bearer like we do!

We should remember this Christmas season that we have the gift of the good news of Jesus and that we are called to give that gift to all people. But how do we do that? Especially when many of us professing Christians tend to have depression of our own? D.Martyn Lloyd-Jones said,

"Christian people too often seem to be perpetually in the doldrums and too often give this appearance of unhappiness and of a lack of freedom and lack of joy. There is no question at all but that this is the main reason why large numbers of people have ceased to be interested in Christianity."

So I ask one more time, how do we share the good news of Jesus this season?I have two ways.

1. Be Honest. What I am trying to say is be honest about your lack of joy. If you try to share the gospel with someone and you don't genuinely have that joy that is "inexpressible and filled with glory," (1Peter 1:8), it's impossible to be convincing. However, when we are honest and confess our unbelief to God, he is always faithful to help us because,  "he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows." He will graciously fill our hearts with belief in his gospel and a solid trust in him.

2. Let Your Joy Overflow. When we believe the gospel and enjoy our Savior we will naturally share the gospel. When we are walking in the truth that God loves us it would be impossible to not speak about what he has done and show that same love to others. So let your joy in Christ overflow to those in your family, work place, and world.

Our prayer at the Source Ministries this Christmas is that all depression would cease! We pray that Christians all around the world would penetrate the darkness by letting their joy and hope overflow to non-believers and the nations. "Let the nations be glad and sing for joy." (Psalm 67:4). Let's thank our Father for the gift of his precious Son.

                                                                                                                                                  Blessings,
                                                                                                                                                   Erik Ripley
